And we're off!

January 3, 2019, had us taking off on our long and exciting trip! Two of the grandparents are joining the girls and I on the first leg to Melbourne, before our little family of 5 sets out exploring Australia. Today's agenda, however, was simply getting to Honolulu for a few days of holiday here. Geoff's sabbatical doesn't officially start until January 15, so he will head home to Portland on Sunday while we head off to Melbourne. He'll join us in Melbourne in about 10 days!

The flight to Honolulu was uneventful, as the girls are now at an age to happily watch movies and tv shows for long stretches. We arrived and were immediately greeted with lovely sights and sounds and warm weather. We explored the hotel (Hilton Hawaiian Village - at 22 acres large, it really is like an actual village) and the pools and ended up having some authentic Japanese food for dinner. Yum! Check out our luggage! We were a party of 7 travelers, each with one checked bag. Then our family of 5 brought 3 carseats. And we each had an on-board bag, and I brought my fancy camera bag (hopefully to get amazing shots of Aussie wildlife!). Add them up and you get 18 pieces of luggage. O.M.G.

  1. Glad it was a relatively easy flight, despite the luggage!
