First 2 days in Melbourne!

What fun we've had. We woke up on Jan. 9 for our first full day in Melbourne (woke up nice and early - 5am!). Our first full day was filled with mango eating, having fun in our preschool workbooks, driving out to secure "stinger suits" for the girls for our trip to Fitzroy Island in March and taking a car nap. Once back, S spent time pouring over maps of Australia. Then more mango eating, watering Auntie Helen's garden which turned into running through the hose and getting all wet, and then finally playing with Opa (who left the next day for Sydney). (scroll past the pictures to read about Jan. 10).

Thursday, Jan. 10, was another lovely day. We all woke up too early (again) but were in great spirits. Grandma and Opa headed off to the Sydney area while we stayed at Auntie Helen's. The girls, Helen and I headed to Healesville Sanctuary. This was the girls' second trip there, having gone 3 years ago with my dad and Anna just before my dad died. They don't remember the trip, but I do, and I said hello to my dad while wandering around. We had such fun. We saw so many beautiful Aussie animals: an echidna, koalas, a platypus, kangaroos, and a lot more. Another car nap was had today, and when we got back to Helen's house, everyone had a lot of energy. S & C made "lego babies" and giggled as they pretended to cradle the babies and then laughed so hard when the babies broke when they hit the floor. It was ridiculous. The girls were so energized and were running around Helen's house so she suggested we go to a park. We hit the mother load with this park and had SUCH FUN! Then it was back to Helen's house for dinner and to wash hands / feet / faces. I got them in their pjs when Ii requested that Helen do bedtime so she did!
