Jan. 22 - Melbourne

Grandma, Opa and Helen left for Canberra for a few days to work on my uncle's apartment before he sells it. That left G, me and the girls in Helen's house for the final few days of our Melbourne trip (we leave here on Thursday, Jan. 24, bound for the west coast and the adventure there).

We started the morning off with jogs / runs for me and G and playing by the girls while we took the individual runs. Nonna then met us and we grabbed coffee before heading back to the Melbourne Museum. S was really excited to show G the animals there and the children's play area. He was very impressed and took a lot of photos of the exhibits. We spent some time in the "First Peoples" exhibit, a beautiful, raw and honest exhibit about Aboriginal people and what happened to them when the white people appeared. We also wandered through an exhibit on masks of the Torres Strait people.

We also happened to be at the museum at 1:45 today, which is when they do the "eel feed" outside. The girls were excited to learn what eels eat (cat food, corn, black beans was on the menu today) and to watch them and the resident turtles and fish eat. We then headed to the children's area and the girls played outside with the large blue blocks today.

Before we left, G found a cool book of kid friendly science experiments, and we did some upon getting back to Helen's.

We had a lovely dinner outside after the science experiments, then the girls ran around in the sprinkler again, then they took a bath, and they sat and ate peanuts with G.

The Australian Open is happening now so G and I are enjoying some tennis. More excitement tomorrow, our final day in Melbourne.
