The girls, G and I had a lovely walk to and breakfast at Jak and Hill. We wandered back to the hotel, with G taking a detour to hit an art supply store for some more markers (the girls are soijf a LOT of art!). Then we found Glamma and Papa Dan and all of us headed to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. While it was absolutely lovely, and the animals were well cared for, G and I have learned the jard way that “sanctuary” means something different here.* It means “as close to real life wild enclosures, but captive breeing and cages. Not somewhere we would usually go, but we made the most of it once there. And it was splendid ... and the girls got to pet a real life koala so their dreams came true today!
Back for some quiet time and art. Then the humidity cut and a huge huge thunderstorm rolled through. It was absolutely wonderful. Once the storm ended and the sun came back out, G, Michele and Dan (Glamma and Papa Dan) went to tje Queensland Museum of Att and the girls and I wrnt to the Riverside Green Playground. We all met back up at the hotel and the girls had a bath while G and his dad cooked our dinner: noodles with olive oil and veggies. Yum!
We are off to Byron Bay by car tomorrow (about a 2 hour drive)!
*the same applied to the Healesville Sanctuary in Melbourne, which is a zoo spin off / subsidiary.
