Port Macquarie - riding horses and playing on the Pacific
We headed out to “LVS on Clarence” for breaky. The LVS part stands for the owners’ 3 kids. The owners started their “as much local stuff as possible” by buying acreage and 450 chickens. They also have their own pigs and raise a lot of the veggies they serve. A true “farm to table” experience: and the food was exceptional to boot!
Our family of 5 then headed off for the girls’ first horse riding experience. C is obsessed with The Famous Mr. Ed. So this was, as she put it, “my dream come true.” They each got a 300 meter, guided walk through the woods, while the other 4 of us waited at the barn and watched other horse riders trot around. They were so over the moon happy with the experience and could not stop talking about it. S even said, in the car ride back, “I cannot believe I got to ride a horse.”
Next stop was the lighthouse. It is a small but spectacular lighthouse, and the steps down to the rocky, wavy beach were worth the trek. We happily played in the water and on the rocks for what seemed like ages. When we hiked our way back up, we found Glamma and Papa Dan!
More pool time in the afternoon and then take-out Thai for dinner. Yum!
Port M has a koala hospital (250 koalas end up there annually) that is open for visitors: we are going there tomorrow!
