San Pancho, PVR, Mexico
We took our first trip to Mexico for spring break with a group of friends: two other families with kids a little older than ours. We flew to Puerto Vallarta, rented a car, and drove about an hour to the beach town of San Pancho. SP is about 20 minutes north of Sayulita, much less crowded, and much less touristy. We rented a large 6-bedroom villa, with each family taking 2 bedrooms. It had a private pool and was about 10 minute, easy walk on sidewalks, down to the beach and the town. Ii is not-quite 2, and S and C are 3 1/2.
As well as having a super kid-friendly, swimmable beach, SP also has a gorgeous community center that is centered on children. We spent an entire afternoon there, reading books, looking at art and talking to people. We wandered the town a few times, stopping for fruit and vegetables at one of the many markets.
